Last official Doctor's appointment

It's official... We'll be having a baby before the weekend is over! If I don't go into labor before Thursday night, I'm scheduled to be induced Friday, May 14th at 5:00 am! Doctor Buehner will be out of town all next week, so we didn't want to chance him not being around to deliver if I went into labor then. Now the anticipation is really killing me! These next few days are just so exciting! He also said I have a favorable cervix, so there's a good chance labor should not be too difficult for me.... super good news to my ears!!
Soon we'll be welcoming our new son into this world... amazing!!

38 weeks

How our baby's growing:
Our baby has really plumped up! He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's over 19 1/2 inches long. He has a firm grasp, which we'll soon be able to test when we hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color our baby's eyes will be? If he's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after he's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

The world is ready for you Levi Gregory!!! Come see us soon please!!!

Belly Cast

Last night's adventure was molding my belly bump cast! Greg's now a master caster too! We had a lot of fun doing it... but once it was set and I took it off... holy cow has this baby made me big!! Glad we were able to get it done before he came out though! Will be something fun to look back on!
(not the best picture from my phone camera, but we got other good ones on a regular camera that I'll be uploading hopefully by this weekend - unless I'm in the hospital *fingers crossed*)

37 weeks and Appointment update!

How our baby's growing:

Levi is now considered "full term," even though my due date is three weeks away. If I go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. He probably weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel. Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if our baby's hair isn't the same color as ours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz. Levi is getting his first sticky poop (called meconium) ready. He's also brushing up on skills for the outside world: blinking, sucking, inhaling, exhaling, and gripping (it's getting strong!).

Appointment #11:

I'm dilated to a 3, and 70% effaced! I've dilated one step larger from last week's appointment, which is a very good sign. The doc didn't want to be specific on when he thought I'd go into labor, but he did say maybe I'll be seeing you before your next appointment (next Tuesday). So, we could have our little boy before the week is over... I would be so ecstatic!! So, stay tuned all!!
